The group suffered a major set-back today as we have lost one of our group members and are possibly losing another. Our group may now turn into a pair as me ans Scott are fully dedicated to finishing this course. We now need to finish editing the prelimanary video and start planning the main task.
spot of trouble, aaron has left the group, he left as he is behind in his business coursework, but is dropping an A-level subject for a BTEC

    Problems

we are unable to start editing our film as we have no computer with the correct softwear to be able to. the reason why we cant is because the classroom is currently having work done on the roof. we have finished most of the tasks including questions and filming. we have been able to do all the tasks even with the problems we have had on the way.
We have now finished filming the video using loads of different shots. We now need to edit the footage to make it "flow" well. We may need to shorten some of the clips as we filmed them longer than they needed to be because we wanted to be sure that it is the right length and we didnt cut off any of the dialogue or action. Stephen is the person most likely to do the editing as he has the most skills on photoshop, which means that he is good with ideas and knows roughly what everything does.

    Preliminary Task
    · Does your film use continuity editing so that the sequence of events are clear and easily understood by the viewer?

I feel that only one part is hard to understand, and this is because we didn’t think and it looks as though I disappear in one part of the film.

    · Have you followed the directions in the brief? (A character opens a door, crosses a room and sits down in a chair opposite another character. An exchange of dialogue occurs.)

We have followed the directions in the brief.

    · Have you used match-on-action?

We have used match on action.

    · Can you explain what a match-on action involves?

This is when you close up on an action that somebody is doing.

    · Have you used shot/reverse shot?

    Yes we have.

    · Can you explain what shot/reverse shot involves?

It’s when you take one close up of someone talking for example, and then when the next person talks close up on them.

    · Did you observe the 180-degree rule?

We did use the 180-degree rule.

    · Can you explain the 180-degree rule?

This is when you only stay to one side of the room so that the viewers don’t get confused.

    scott's turn!

we hit a few problems during the course of filming our preliminary, such as michael getting a paper cut to the camera running out of battery. we overcame these problems but then had the mammoth task of editing the video and saving the files onto the computer. we had another problem when the files did not work on a different computer and it didnt work, this was another set back as we had to wait until lunch time so we could upload our project onto the computer. we are just coming up to the end of the project and are nearing completion of all editing, we now need to answer questions and keep on track  to make sure we do not fall behind in the next task.
much love, scott <3 (the first 'S' in MASS)

    Filming takes.

As a whole, the filming has been successful, the different takes took time but we have configured the right camera angles to have an offective shot. For example we have taken shots of the door begining to open as an cloose up and then moved into the shot of the actor walking into the room from the shot. To add the effect of the person entering the room, but also to add an close up, to add more differenciation in shots.
After the time we have been shotting we have found some mistakes which we have changed through editing the clip.
